Plinth Level Construction of Building | Nuvo Nirmaan

What is Plinth?

Plinth is the line which differentiates the Substructure and Superstructure. It is the part of the Superstructure between the top of the tie beam at the finished ground level (the top level of the soil surrounding the structure that has been prepared and levelled before construction) and the floor level of the building (the ground floor level inside the building).

Importance

The Plinth height is provided essentially to protect the superstructure from dampness, which may seep in due to direct contact from the ground. The top plinth level is provided with the damp proof course, which gives additional protection against dampness.

Sub-stages of Plinth

Plinth is made up of various sub-stages like:

Casting of plinth beams
Casting of plinth beams
Plinth filling
Plinth filling
Damp Proof Course

Grade Slab
Grade Slab

Perfect time to Start

Plinth level structure can be started at any time of the year as long as the below measures are followed:

Maximum size of boulders for plinth filling

Maximum size of boulders to be used for plinth filling should be 300mm

Proper damp proof course

A proper damp proof course should be provided or else water will start seeping on the ground floor area through capillary action

Time required to complete the Substructure:

Approx. 19 days for a 750 sq. ft. home and approx. 24 days for a 1000 sq. ft. home

Plinth filling

Plinth filling will require maximum 5 to 6 days if IS standards are strictly followed

Concreto cement is versatile and premium slag cement that is well-suited for all types of low, medium and heavy-duty construction applications and gives a better finish to the exterior and interiors of a building. Concreto can be used for varied applications like roofing, foundations, beams, columns, plastering and brickwork. It is specially formulated to provide a denser concrete mix than normal cement. Concreto can also be used for giving better finishing to the exterior and interiors of a building. It comes with 5 star advantage of – Super Strength, Best Freshness, Superior Finish, Lightest Color, Assured Quality.

Duraguard Microfiber is the only cement available in the market, built with the benefit of Microfiber. It is the most advanced cement, enhanced with Microfiber Technology for extra binding power. Acting as micro reinforcing agents, the Microfiber help the cement to resist seepage, dampness, shrinkage, and thermal cracks for years to come. Major advantages of using this cement are – Surfaces with fewer cracks, Strong structures, Reduced water seepage, and Low maintenance structures.

You can use Double Bull Master Cement – a premium Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) that is produced from the best quality clinker along with fly ash and gypsum. It is engineered with our signature ‘Ummeed Se Zyada’ strength and optimum setting to provide superior Performance, Durability, Setting and Strength.

Note: You can mix Zero M Water Shield with any of the above cement products in given proportions, if you want your R.C.C. elements to have water repellent properties.

InstaMix

  • InstaMix is a ready-to-use concrete available in 35 kg bags
  • The contractor has to just shake the bag, open it and pour the concrete at the desired location
  • Use of InstaMix will eliminate procurement and storage of different raw materials
  • InstaMix bags can be ordered even for small concrete volumes

Zero M Water Shield

  • It is an integral waterproofing compound mixed with cement at the time of concreting
  • It helps in waterproofing of R.C.C. elements which will be buried inside the ground and subjected to moisture at all times

Zero M Acrylic Power

  • It is a pure waterproofing liquid mixed in different ratios of cement for different applications
  • It is applied using brush application on the top surface of plinth beams as a damp proof course

Zero M Cover Blocks

  • Cover blocks are made of concrete whose strength is more than the strength of structural members like columns, beams & slabs
  • As the blocks are made of concrete, they ensure better bonding with poured concrete
